A Skateboarding Zine

Site Tech

We've gone back to about 1996 for most of the tech used to create this online zine. At least as far as the web pages go. There is no content management system. We use basic HTML, CSS, and Server Side Includes to create the site, which is written by hand in a text editor.

This is not a blog. While we love blogs and RSS feeds (we each have our own blogs), we write our issues by hand.

We've made the effort to make this look good on any device. Turns out good ol' HTML was already "responsive" 30 years ago. We use a font size that is big enough to read easily but isn't too big for the browser on your phone. If you are a child of social media apps and don't know what a browser is, well, it's what you are reading this on right now as we don't have an app. Congratulations! You found us!

The one modern system we use is Vimeo. It is a good alternative to YouTube because there is no fucking advertising. Our videos are hosted on the account of Concrete Lunch Projects. While we use ZERO TRACKING on this site, Vimeo does have some analytics (which we ignore). That's just how it is.
